One more confirmed Cholera case has reported in Mutare, bringing to two confirmed cases. The first case is that of a male Bakers Inn delivery truck driver from Budiriro in Harare who had come to Mutare City on duty. He is admitted at Mutare Infectious Diseases Hospital where he is receiving treatment.
City of Mutare assures the public that there are no diarrhoeal cases linked to Cholera in the City of Mutare suburbs where the driver delivered Bakers Inn bread nor is there any other case linked to the his Cholera disease in any part of City of Mutare.
The second case is of a one-year-nine-months old baby from Zvipiripiri area in Marange, Mutare Rural District Council.
We urge members of the public to exercise safe and hygiene practices when visiting the toilet and also when cooking or eating food, avoid shaking hands at funerals or any public gatherings
City of Mutare with the Ministry of Health and Child Care and other partners have enhanced the emergency preparedness to contain any Cholera outbreak in the City.
The Council together with Ministry officials have since recovered and destroyed the bread which was distributed by the driver and everything is under control.
Let us remain alert and vigilant and exercise the highest level of hygienic as the first precaution measure in fighting cholera.
