The City of Mutare is geared to host the inaugural The Zimbabwe-Manicaland Smart City Summit which will be held on the 30th of November 2018.
The Summit will bring different players together ranging from Government officials, investors specialising in smart city service provision.
The Summit which will be held at Golden Peacock Villa Hotel, is being jointly hosted by Mutare City and The Chartered Institute of Project Managers Zimbabwe.
The delegation headed by the Dr P. Nyemba, and Town Clerk met the Minister of State for provincial affairs Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba to outline the scope of the summit.
in her speech Dr Gwaradzimba said Manicaland province embraces the concept of smart city saying its an honour to pioneer such a land mark summit, which chart a new service delivery provision for local authorities.
The Town Clerk for City of Mutare Mr Joshua Maligwa said world wide smart city concept is redefining service delivery adding that other African countries such as Rwanda, South Africa have already taken a lead.
Dr Nyemba said the Smart City Summit resonates with the vision of the President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, and urged all the various stakeholders in Manicaland to embrace the vision of the second republic.
