City of Mutare has procured three new refuse compactors, a backhoe loader and four utility vehicles to the tune of $700 000.00 as part of the broader recapitalisation programme.
Council last procured such equipment and plant almost a decade ago.
The procurement of the new plant and equipment will go a long way in improving service delivery particulary in the area of refuse collection, water and sewer services.
This is history in the making, and the process was made possible courtesy of the close stakeholders engagement processes and we believe that this is just but the beginning, noted Mr Joshua Maligwa, the Town Clerk for City of Mutare.
He applauded Mutare residents for taking ownership of the city through paying their bills in contributing to service delivery.
The procurement of the items is part of the broader new management vision to transform the state of service delivery and ensure the return of the yester year glory.
" We want our residents, business community, industry, and all key stakeholders to have value for money and we believe we are in the right track to restore sound and effective service delivery to the people," noted Mr Maligwa.
expectations are that come 2019 more equipment and plant will be procured.
